The Single Girl’s Guide to Valentine’s Day

You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection

There’s no doubt that modern society thinks of Valentine’s Day as an occasion for roses, romantic dinners, and other “unmentionables”. This year however, I think that many women should just opt for the good ol’ Netflix & chill. Sans the chill part, if you know what I mean. But maybe that’s just me. (Okay let’s be honest it totally is)

In all seriousness though, it’s important to understand that the most important relationship we will probably ever have is the one we build with ourselves. And if this relationship is anything less than satisfying, chances are all our other relationships will be as well.

So this year for Valentine’s Day I encourage you to take some time and spend it falling in love with yourself all over again. Even if you’re not single! Go to a flower market, take yourself to the movies, and enjoy some much needed me time. You won’t regret it.

Here are some ideas to help inspire you to plan your day. Enjoy!

Pamper Yourself.

Because you deserve it. It is very easy nowadays to get caught up in daily routines and forget that you left your wellbeing in the back burner. Time to get it back, lady. Simple things like making yourself a cup of tea, grabbing a book, putting on a face mask, or even painting your nails can do wonders for you.

I have been obsessed (even more so) with Lush Cosmetics products ever since I saw the ad campaign for their Valentine’s Day collection this year. Try their heavenly face masks, toners, or even shower gels, which are made with rose petals.

Visit Your Local Market.

Shop local! Local markets are, in my opinion, one of the best ways to meet new people and find unique trinkets that you otherwise wouldn’t find anywhere else. Chat it up with the vendors, eat local food, and explore everything your city has to offer.

Take a Bubble Bath.

See: “Pamper Yourself“. Baths are one of the things I have been trying to incorporate into my routine this year. And there are so many benefits to taking them! Better sleep, mood improvement, and overall hydration are just a few of them.

Be sure to include essential oils, epsom salts, or even bath bombs to give your bath a little oopmh. Then light a candle, watch a movie, and pour yourself a glass of champagne. Cheers!

Do Whatever Makes You Glow.

In the end, do whatever makes you happy. Whether it is painting, dancing, cooking, singing, or trying something new.

In my case, I am planning to spend Tuesday evening doing yoga under the full moon with a small group from my community. It sounds a little eccentric, I know, but it is something I am very much looking forward to experience.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Until next time,
